Types of Solar Panels

Types of Solar Panels
Solar energy is one of the energies from a renewable source, and it is through solar panels that sunlight is converted into energy.

What are the types of solar panels?

Photovoltaic solar panel:

These types of panels are made up of silicon photovoltaic cells that, through a process called the photoelectric effect, allow light energy to be transformed into electrical energy. The most common photovoltaic solar panels are:

  • Monocrystalline panels (composed of silicon).
  • Polycrystalline panels (composed of silicon).
  • Others not composed of silicon, such as Organic.

Thermal solar panel:

It allows the transformation of energy from the sun into thermal energy, that is, into heat. They have various uses, such as swimming pool heating, steam creation, etc. They can be grouped into three large groups:

  • Low temperature collector, reaching a maximum of 50ºC.
  • Medium temperature collector, can reach up to 90ºC.
  • High temperature collector, which can reach up to 150ºC.

Thermal solar panel:

It is a mixture of a photovoltaic panel together with a thermal one, that is, the two technologies are combined in a single panel, to produce electricity and heat simultaneously.

The advantage of this type of panel is the reduction of space to take advantage of solar energy. It is a good alternative for places where, in addition to demanding domestic hot water, electricity can be provided.
